Terms
The rules for playing Shveeskay and for publishing things in it. Short, because there is not much to agree to: the game is free, there is nothing to buy, and it is not finished.
Last updated 3 Sept 2026
This is early access
By playing, you accept that Shveeskay is unfinished software rather than a released product:
- Features arrive, change and get removed. Something you like today may play differently next week.
- Saved worlds can break. A save holds a world seed and what you did to that world; a change to how worlds are generated can make an old save load wrong or not at all. There is no cloud backup and no migration promise.
- Matches can desync, and connections can fail outright for reasons neither end controls.
None of that is a defect you are owed a fix for - it is the stage the game is at, and it is why it is free.
Your account
- You can play without one. An account exists so you can publish maps and buildings and keep a profile.
- One account is one person. Do not share it, and do not sign up on someone else's behalf.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep the password to yourself.
- If you are under 16, ask a parent or guardian before making one.
- You can delete your account at any time from your profile page. I can also close an account that is being used to break the rules below.
Maps, buildings and ideas you make
What you make stays yours. Publishing does not transfer ownership of it.
What publishing does do is give me permission to host it, show it, and ship it inside the game - including generating a published building into the worlds other players play in, which is what publishing one is for. That permission lasts as long as the thing is published, and it covers nothing else: I will not sell your work or license it on.
In exchange, when you publish something you are stating that:
- It is yours to publish - you made it, or you have the right to.
- It is not illegal, hateful, harassing, or sexual content involving minors, and it does not exist to attack a real person.
- It does not carry someone else's trademark or copyrighted material into the game.
One practical note: a published building can be referenced by name inside other players' saved worlds. That is why deleting one does not reach into their saves to remove it, and why an account deletion leaves published content standing without its author.
How to behave in a match
- No cheating, no modified clients, and nothing that exploits a bug to ruin the match for everybody else.
- No harassment of other players.
- Do not attack the infrastructure: no flooding the signaling server, no scraping, no attempts to get at other people's accounts or data.
Be aware of the limit here, and it is a real one: matches are peer-to-peer, so nothing passes through a server I can watch. I cannot see what happens inside your match and I cannot moderate it as it happens. The room code is the actual control - play with people you choose.
What I may do
- Unpublish or delete content that breaks the rules above, without notice where it is serious.
- Suspend or close an account that is being used to do so.
- Change, break or discontinue any part of the game - including taking the whole thing offline. It is free and it is early access; nobody has bought a guarantee that it keeps running.
If something of yours is removed and you think that was wrong, write to privacy@shveeskay.com.
No warranty
The game is provided as it is, free of charge, with no warranty of any kind: not that it works, not that it is available, not that it is fit for anything in particular, and not that your saves survive.
That is the honest description of a one-person early-access project, not an attempt to disclaim something I would otherwise owe you.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using the game - lost saves, lost time, or lost matches included.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, which in particular means death or personal injury caused by negligence, and fraud. Your rights as a consumer under the law of the country you live in are unaffected by anything on this page.
Changes and applicable law
These terms change when the game does; the date at the top moves when their meaning does. Continuing to play after a change is how you accept it - and the whole text is on one page, so there is no fine print to miss.
The project is run from the Czech Republic and Czech law applies, without taking away the consumer protections of the country you live in.
